BROKER LICENSE

The initial license for real estate sales in Illinois is a Broker license. To qualify for a Broker license you must be 21 or older, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, have a social security number, be of good moral character, complete a 90 hour Broker License education program, and pass the State Exam. Then you can associate with a real estate brokerage company and apply for your license. The initial 90 hour education is 2 courses by state requirements; A 75 hour Topics course that can be completed self study, online, or in class, and a 15 hour Interactive class (two way communication between student and instructor with mandatory attendance in person or by live webcast). BROKER POST-LICENSE

After obtaining a Broker license and for the 1st renewal of that license you are required to complete 30 hours of Broker Post-License education. The 30 hour education is 2 courses by state requirements; A 15 hour Topics course that can be completed self study, online, or in class, and a 15 hour Interactive class (two way communication between student and instructor with mandatory attendance in person or by live webcast). MANAGING BROKER LICENSE

The upper real estate license in Illinois is a Managing Broker license. This is the license needed to sponsor yourself and others plus to manage and operate real estate offices. To get a Managing Broker license you are first required to be an active Broker licensee for 2 out of the last 3 years. To upgrade from Broker to Managing Broker requires completion of 45 hours of a Managing Broker education program and pass the state exam. The 45 hour education is 2 courses by state requirements; A 30 hour Topics course that can be completed self study, online, or in class, and a 15 hour Interactive class (two way communication between student and instructor with mandatory attendance in person or by live webcast). LEASING AGENT LICENSE FIRST RENEWAL

This is the first renewal of my Leasing Agent license. You DO NOT need any Continuing Education for the 7/31/16 renewal.

LEASING AGENTS SECOND+ RENEWAL

This is my second, third, etc. renewal of my Leasing Agents license. You need 6 hours of Continuing Education completed between 8/1/14 and 7/31/16 for the 7/31/16 renewal.

EXISTING MANAGING BROKERS

If this is your 2nd or subsequent renewal of your Managing Broker license (license was issued BEFORE 2/1/15) you need 24 hours of CE = 12 Core & Elective plus 12 BMCE for your 4/30/2017 renewal. There is a link on the bottom of this page to look up your license issuance date.

If this is your 2nd or subsequent renewal of your Broker license (license was issued BEFORE 2/1/16) you need 12 hours of Continuing Education (6 core and 6 elective) completed between 5/1/2016 and 4/30/2016 for the 4/30/18 renewal. Go here look up your current and past CE completions.All schools have until the 15th of the following month after completion to report CE completions. If it is before that date check back after the 15th. If it is after the 15th contact the school. Additionally, once you renew your CE completions automatically go into history. Click on "Show History" in the upper right hand corner of page to see them. NOTE: There is no place you can look up Broker Post-License course completions.

RENEW YOUR LICENSE click here 
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY AND RENEW YOUR LICENSE WITH THE IDFPR. When the renewal system is open (the 90 days prior your expiration date), AFTER you have completed your CE, renew your license. You DO NOT need certificates. You DO NOT need the completions reported. The State does not verify completions when you renew. Renew by 4/30 otherwise on 5/1 it will cost $50 more.

The State is no longer printing and mailing licenses. Within a few days after you renew, when the system has been updated you can access your new license. You should receive an email with an access code on how to retrieve/download/print your new license. You can also get your license by going here and selecting "Individuals (Date of Birth or SSN). You must get/print the license to provide the original to your Sponsoring Broker to have in the office and possess a pocket card.
